SPECIAL PROJECTS:
MIGHTY M.O.D. STEP TEAM CAPTURES 3RD PLACE !! RCA Step Team participated in their 1st competition: STOMP D.A.T.: Say No to D.A.T. (Drugs. Alcohol. Tobacco. This is a huge accomplishment for our team, where nine featured step teams from area schools and youth-based community groups participated in serious battle to educate youth about the dangers of drugs, alcohol and tobacco.

Rock Creek Journalist: Rock Creek Academy now has its own published journalist! DeAra B. has published an article in the Wednesday, Nov. 11 edition of the Northwest Current newspaper. The article goes into detail about the four new academies established at our school. The Northwest Current is a weekly paper published for readers living in the northwest quadrant of Washington, DC. The article is found on Page 22-23. CONGRATULATIONS on your good work DeAra !!
Antwan O. Performs: With a crowd of over 100 people, Antwan O. performed original poetry at Bus Boys and Poets on November 15. Everyone cheered and the judges gave him a 7.5, 8.5, 9, 9, and 9.5!! Kudos to Ms. Atlas-one of our Clinical Interns who spent several hours preparing Antwan as well as attended the event to support him.
8th Grade Visual Arts Students Exhibition: Let us congratulate Ronald G., Franklin C., Richard F., Dajuan G., Danita H., Leshawn M. and Paul J. on their successful opening of their exhibition titled, "Emerging Silhouettes." Stop by the Big Bear Cafe, located at 1700 1st Street, NW to view their art-work on display. It will remain at the cafe until mid-February. CONGRATULATIONS to our budding artists!! |
